nbts.yml
This file only matters when a zone runs with show_nbts: false. If you never turn that off, and the
shipped default leaves it on, you can skip this page entirely.
What the setting does
Section titled “What the setting does”With show_nbts: false, SomaHider strips the details from the items other players see, so nobody can
identify a hidden player by the custom sword they always carry.
The catch is that some plugins store data in those same tags and need it on the client to render an
item correctly. Strip everything and those items break visually. nbts.yml is the list of tags that
survive the stripping.
whitelist: ItemID: ["orb*", "switch_ball"] custom_item: "*"Writing an entry
Section titled “Writing an entry”The key is the tag name, and the value says which values of that tag to keep.
| You write | Kept |
|---|---|
custom_item: "*" | The tag, whatever its value. |
ItemID: "switch_ball" | Only when the value is exactly switch_ball. |
ItemID: ["orb*", "switch_ball"] | When the value matches either entry. |
A * at the end of a value matches any ending, so orb* keeps orb_speed and orb_strength. A *
on its own matches everything.
Anything not listed is removed while show_nbts is off.
Finding out what to list
Section titled “Finding out what to list”Ask the plugin that owns the items. If you cannot, the practical approach is to turn show_nbts off on
a test zone, stand in it with a second account, and look at which items stop rendering properly. Those
are the ones whose tags need an entry here.
